Flagship Activities of the SUB-DEPARTMENT of MENTAL HEALTH 2023
Activity 1
Title: Sporting activities with People living with Mental Illness and Wandering (PLMIW) at the Village de l’Amour à in Yaoundé, June 2023.
Article: In 2023, nearly 400 PLMIWs managed at the Village De l’Amour (VDA) of the Jamot Hospital of Yaoundé (JHY) with 5 travels in the 7 districts of the capital city under the aegis of teams of volunteer nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, and members of the Yaoundé Urban Council (YUC).

Title: Awareness and Management of People living with Mental Illness and Wandering (PLMIW) – Douala Urban Council (DUC) in October 2023

Activity 3
Title: Training of 200 volunteer community sensitizers from Family Club Association on the harmful effects of drug use in August 2023
Article: In 2023, at ESSTIC, 200 young volunteers from the Family Club association were trained on the harmful effects of drogue consumption by a team of experts from the Department of Health Promotion. The aim of this training was to equip them to carry out awareness campaigns in government high schools and colleges in the city of Yaoundé.

Activity 4
Title: Emergency psychological management at the bedside of the victims of the Mbankolo landslide in Yaoundé in October 2023
Article: In October 2023, emergency psychological management was provided to the victims at the site of the Mbankolo landslide disaster and psychological follow-up was carried out every 3 days in the resettlement sites at the Nkomkana party house and some targeted health facilities (The Central Hospital and CURY). At the same time, psychological follow-up was provided to the staff of the mortuary and care teams.
